Hi all

I am replacing my current toilet cistern as it’s failing, am I right in saying this is a bottom entry cistern?

Are they all universal fit or will I need to measure up first to ensure the cistern fits this toilet?

The cistern I am looking at is attached, and current one also pictured.

Many thanks, Paul

Ate you replacing the complete cistern or just the gubbins?

Thanks for your reply. I am replacing the whole cistern, or do you recommend anything else? Basically, the flush mechanism isn’t working, hardly any water is flushing so just be a broken mechanism

Id replace the whole toilet. Matching a new cistern to an existing toilet pan can be a task in its self.

Replace the whole thing. If the gubbins thst comes with the toilet are cheap and nasty then buy decent gubbins.

The Viva parts you posted are fine.

All you probably need is a new 2" flushing valve. Don't be fobbed off with a smaller outlet valve or you won't get the flush rush to clear the pan properly.

The above is only a 1&1/2" outlet valve with an adapting 'washer' to fit into a 2" outlet cistern. Go for 2" for the flush rush.

Fluid master are the best. If you cistern isn't cracked or damaged then just renew with gubbins and new sealing kit.

If the flush isn't working properly you only need to replace the flush valve. If you really want to replace the entire cistern, finding one that will fit your existing toilet bowl will be difficult and you'd be better replacing the whole toilet - bowl and cistern

Thanks for all your help. I have bought the Skylo kit, and will keep the original cistern.

Having previously fitted one of these, I had issues with leaks, as I trusted the nuts, bolts and donut to do their job!

I am thinking of sealing the toilet pan with plumbers mate (red on photo - will be cleaned prior to fitting!) and the red lines on the threads with jointing compound prior to fitting the cistern to the pan, would this be recommended?

I am hoping to reuse the flexy connector, would this work or is it best to renew this aswell?

Many thanks for your advice
