Brand new toilet install leaked from day one. After many hours trying to identify where the leak was coming from, I've finally removed the entire toilet from the waste to look round the back.
Turns out it's leaking from a crack in the rear of the pan, which has been badly patched up from the factory (or a return to the store). The below pic shows the patching, the water's leaking from the righthand splodge, only when the toilet's flushed.

My question is, is it normal for brand new pans to have patch ups on them? Obviously I'm going to insist on a replacement, but was just curious whether they often come off the production line like this?
Thanks in advance.
