new washing machine - water already in it!

Hi,
We have just unwrapped our new washing machine and there is water inside it - the drum is wet and water has poured out of the hose! It is a John Lewis machine and it was delivered this afternoon. We phoned John Lewis but was told the department we needed is closed and doesnt open til tomorrow morning. Has anyone heard of a washing machine arriving with water in it before? Have we been sold a not-brand new machine?

yes plumb in and use ,should say in manual that its been water tested .

It should say something in the manual about this and you should do a first wash with nothing in it.
