Hi just joined and looking for advise

I have a strange problem with the lighting in my flat, basically on two occasions now the lights have faded out quite quickly, not a sudden switch off, but not tripped the circuit breaker either. One light in my living room has stayed working but all other lights won't operate. The first time it happened last week it happened early morning and I returned to the flat at lunch time and all the lights were working again. It's happened again this morning same problem, living room light ok and CB not tripped, haven't been back to see if they are back on yet. Any ideas????

Light circuits are fed from one to the other, you could have a loose conection just after the first that is overheating and causing an intermittent problem.

Some halogen spot lights are fed from transformers with trips that cut out if they get too hot, this wouldn't effect several rooms though.

Traced the problem to a halogen ceiling light in the bathroom, tightened up the connections and everything is working again. thanks for your help.
