I recently had a new indirect unvented cylinder installed (to replace my old vented cylinder).

I believe the new cylinder includes a backup immersion heater. However, it doesn't look like the installer has wired it up, so I have no way to switch it on.

Is it standard (or acceptable) practice to not connect up the backup immersion heater unless the customer explicitly asks them to?

My boiler is just a year old, but you never know what issues there could be.

Would it be reasonable for me to ask them back to wire it up for no extra charge?

Was your old immersion wired up? If it was, what have they done with said wire?

In that case I wouldn't expect the new one to be connected, no. Call an electrician if you want it wired up
