NEWS: Case study: Family turn self-build dream into a reality

Can you post a link or reference the article ?

A friend of mine project manages his new build (currently on going) and it's always been a dream of mine.

Wiki, he say: "The term 'self build' is specifically used in the UK and Ireland when an individual obtains a building plot and then builds their own home on that plot. The term doesn't necessarily refer to completing the work yourself - more usually, self-build is defined as the act of 'commissioning' a bespoke home." And Murray Armour was calling it that 25 years ago... It's a phrase, not a contract.

Thank you for the links to the descriptions, from Wiki, that described the UK and Ireland.

as regards to self build wiki actually said:
Self-build is the practice of creating an individual home for oneself through a variety of different methods. The self-builder's input into this process varies from doing the actual building work to contracting out all the work to an architect or building package company. The term self-build in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland is expressly used when an individual obtains a building plot and then builds his or her own home on that plot.

Those of us who have DIY self-built do get irritated when self managers refer to themselves as self builders.

Yeah but more admiration to be had from doing the work yourself of course. In fact much more.

I think the term property developer has been undermined also by people with excessive wealth buying up properties and throwing money at a management team and claiming all the glory for themselves. Self-attribution fallacy as per my signature at the bottom.
