No heat in Radiators

I have had some problems with my radiators. The radiators down stairs stopped working, then the ones up stairs stopped, a month or so later, except the one in the bathroom.

When I draw through some water the radiator I draw it from gets warm for a minute so I take it the water can get to the radiators.

I have draw down taps at each radiator down stairs, I have emptied the system making sure each radiator is empty, added cleaning chemicals and refilled the system. This did not help.

I have checked the pump and it seems to be working and speeding up when I change it from 1-2-3. The pipes either side of the pump are red hot.

Is there anything else I can check as someone who is rather new to DIY or is it time to call in a professional?

try this first turn off the rads up stairs and see heat comes down

if that fails goto to pump and follow the pipe to cylider their should be vavle on last bit off pipe to it and shut it down and see u can force water to them rads

more info needed chap. for example do you have a valve on the h/w and one on the c/h or just the one? does the lever move across? what make etc?

for example if you've got a honeywell mid position or zone valve and the arm doesn't really move it could be that the rubber ball inside has swollen and is stopping it circulating

Not too sure what a honeywell is, will look about the valves on c/h and h/w, I am a true novice at this.

I have tried turning all but one radiator off. This has got some heat in the one radiator that has been left on, but it is only luke warm. The heating on my boiler is set to 5/6. It is a traditional system with a tank, the pipes near the tanks are red hot.

Thanks for your help, after fiddling with something called a mid valve and thumping the pump a good few times the heating is back on.
