If there was 240v applied to a coil with a resistance of 115 Ω then there would be a very rapid overheat situation!...........................Christ!! That's nearly 500Watts, pulling over 2Amps................. 
No heating help !

It probably was the mod coil he measured. Just shows how dangerous it can be playing with things you dont understand.
The current in the coil would be far less that 2 Amps due to the inductance of the solenoid. Even so it would rapidly overheat !
