One of my rads sprang a corrosion leak so i closed off the valves at the bottom of the rad, then my kid ran a bath and since then we've had no heating or hot water????????????????
The system as far as i can tell has no pressure indicators so i presume its a vented one, not really sure. The boiler is connected to a room thermostat and a timer control system which is working. this leaking rad now makes two rads missing from the system one in the same room as the hot water storage tank
and the other is on the first floor landing.
Any ideas???????

If its open vented the leaking rads may have drained the system if the ballvalve in the F&E tank is stuck closed. You need to go in the loft to check.

Hi Dave. Thanks for the pointer. I did as you said went to the loft and looked at the expansion tank. It's full of very brown water with an orange looking film floating on top.

Would draining the system down and then refilling help????

Cheers Dave T.

As well as the system being very dirty, the feed pipe to the system is obviously blocked.

You need to replace the blocked pipe and power flush the system.

Pipe is usually blocked at the T where the cold feed joins the rest of the pipe work.
