no hot water from shower

hi

we have a shower that i think comes off a water tank (not electric i mean, when it works it runs out of hot water pretty quickly)

basically i can't get any hot water to come out of it, it has been like this for ages, a month ago i got it to work but i went away for a week and now it doesn't work again: it just gives out cold water

can anyone help?

Sounds like either:

1) Air lock - seems unlikely if no adjustments have been made to the plumbing system during the period.

2) Blockage somewhere on the pipe from DHWC to shower - might be on filters into shower

3) Thermostatic mixing control valve needs replacing

If 3) then usually can pick up a replacement valve from showerspares but aren't cheap. Relatively straightforward to replace though
