No Hot Water on Timer ?

Need some advice,

We have suddenly got no Hot water when its on Timer, If I switch on the Manual emersion heater we get Hot water no problem.

The Central heating works fine, We have a potterton Maxi 50 standard central heating boiler (not a combi / condensing etc)

The timer switch looks fine and switches the water on but nothing heats up?

Any ideas

Three way valve or zone valve not working, motor or micro switch needs replacing.
