I have a Baxi Bermuda 552 Back Boiler Gravity fed . i think i have air lock between the back boiler and the hot water cylinder. i was told that a way of curing this is to turn the control knob up to full and vent the air out through the vent nipple on the vent pipe, but to do this i need to take out the Thermostat Phial, so i have been told!!! Could you please tell me where the Phial is in relation to the Control Knob! or have you a better way of doing this, as i am tearing my hair out! Can you also describe the part to me if possible, that would be a great help.

Thank you
Ray

Have you checked the water level in the small tank in loft? To do what you describe is a last resort and should only be undertaken by a RGI.

you should have also been told you have to remove the fire front

this is RGI territory

Thanks for the input, i have already done that, thanks.

another way you can try (before getting a gas safe engineer in to do the way you first said) is put a hose pipe on a mains tap (garden tap etc) - and the other end into the cold feed inside your small tank - with the boiler / heating system turned off. this could force the air out - or you could put te ose pipe on a drain valve somewere on te eating circuit if there is one and do it that way
