Right, so I have a worcester 24i boiler...it has suddenly stopped working for reasons unknown to me.

It has done this once before, but it suddenly worked again. It packed up yesterday afternoon sometime and still isn't working. No CH or hot water.

I had a read on the web/on here and saw a diy video for the filling loop, i looked and the boiler pressure gauge was at 0 so i managed to fill it up to about 1.5 now and still nothing.
Earlier on this morning, before I filled it up I could here some strange noises, like bubbling in the pipes. That has stopped, and now if I turn on a hot tap or the heating, the boiler makes a bit of a noise like it should be doing something but nothing happens and it doesn't sound like it should do.

Also..I found some water on the floor near our washing machine, which is also right next to the boiler. The washing machine hasn't been spinning properly recently and Im assuming the problem is there as the water is definatley not by any pipes or valves to/from the boiler. Would the leaking washing machine have affected the boiler working?

And the ignition light? What is that meant to look like? Im having all sorts of wories now that I've been cut off by the gas company or something ridiculous! Please help!!!

When the water pressure is low the boiler can overheat.

Your boiler has a resetable overheat thermostat but it is in a part of the boiler not accessible by a user.

You need someone Gas Safe Registered to recomission it and purge the air remaining in the boiler due to low water operation..

In extreme cases a new overheat stat is required but as this is the first time you have experienced this it should just be a question of reseting it.

The good news:
If you had been cut off by the gascompany, you probably would have had problems cooking your dinner as well, so it is unlikely that has happened.

The bad news:
You need to get a RGI out to check your boiler/system and remedy the faults, 95% sure you have at least 2.

Thanks all

Oh but we have an electric oven so...that wouldnt be much help!

And I have found a leak coming from inside the boiler so I definately need to get a professional in, its dripping out the bottom hence the puddle of water which I had assumed came from the washing machine. Great
