more info required.

have you done anything, has lamp blown etc etc

nothing blown just tried lights this morning and all upstairs lighting off. assumed blown bulb but trip switch still on . usually when bulb blows trip flips down and wont flip back up until bulb replaced

have you tried turning the mcb (trip switch you called it) off then on?

yep tried flicking the switch off and on. usually if there is a problem it wont click into the on position it will keep switching to off.however even in on position still no upstairs lighting. frankly i am baffled. but this is not unusual as i am a lorry driver not asparky

it must be loose or bad connection.

since all the lights dont work, it must be the feed to them which is at.............

or at the mcb

ceiling roses, best place is the first one, but we dont know which that is.

lights are usualy looped from the cu to the first light to the 2nd light etc
at each rose a cable is connected to the switch

do turn off the mcb first
