No Soffit/Loft Ventilation

Around this time of year/once in a blue moon, when the stars align and the mercury hits an obscenely high number for the UK, my loft space turns into a sealed roof of pure fire. Thankfully, not actual fire.

But basically, the loft captures and retains all the heat, which makes our entire upstairs unbearable.

Upon exploring, I've found that we have no soffit ventilation and no obvious exhaust.

We have plastic fascias and soffits, and I'm aware of the little vents you can get installed, which are supposed to be twinned with a ridge/roof tile to expel the heat. But I'm also aware that, upsetting the feng shui can result in condensation build up and the like, as such I've assumed what we currently have is "on purpose", and not actually an oversight.

Should I look into soffit vents and matching tile vents, or should I just leave it be?

Only 40C? Mine's that at night. I'm having an thermostatic extractor fan fitted tomorrow, just so it's possible to go up there without dying.

You definitely need ventilation in a loft....
I’m wondering if I have these, or similar. If I look down the roof from inside the loft, down the felt I can see what looks like those ‘lines’ and daylight.

Question is, would I benefit from exhausts in the ridge/gables/roof tiles? Or should I just ignore and move on?

I have a few PC’s running 24/7 and some networking gear in there which won’t help at all. But with those, I have a couple of thermostatic fans to push the air around.

I would just like to get more air flowing.

Though 40’c inside and 40’c outside, there’s not much you can do I guess

I'm just getting a fan installed in the gable end with a 150mm hole and a vent on the outside. Controlled by a Wifi adapter so I don't need to go up there to change the settings.

It might make a modest difference. It will still be hot up there though.
