no sound on my laptop

Hi just wondered if anyone can help me with a problem.
I have a Toshiba Equium but the sound has stopped working it worked at one time, and i think i must have muted it at sometime, anyway there is a red cross at the side of the small speaker icon on the bottom toolbar, but when i right click it its saying there in no audio device installed i have been in to control panel and sounds but it tells me the same??
i am running Vista
any ideas ????

Try a system restore to when it last worked.

Or download the soundcard driver. You do not say which model but this is for the A210:

Look down the list for the drivers for the A200.

Hi Dave thanks for the info just done a restore and alls ok now and now it comes up with the volume control
