no sound

Hi All, recently my PC was corrupt so a neighbour got it working although everything was wiped off and like an old fool I didnt back it up ...anyway

cant seem to get any sound on put ,in a CD and this message comes up .....

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly.

All connections are ok I have gone thru troublshooter and all seems in order as far as I know but still nowt

Have you checked to see if the sound card is in the slot properly.
Have you tried palying the radio on the pc to see if its not just a cd problem

radio silent, will get my screwdriver out

BTW when i just tried the conectors in and out again there was a crackling noise noise coming from speakers

Thanks its sorted, went to Pack Bell site and downloaded driver
