No water from Shower head

Hello all - newbie here - I turned on the bathroom electric shower yesterday morning and no water came out of the shower head. When I turn on the shower there is no power light (although it didn't show sometimes in the past) and just silence - no sound of the shower turning on.

Shower is a Triton Seville - had it a good few years and Gas Boiler is Baxi Combo.

I can get hot water to kitchen/bathroom taps ok.

Have tried cleaning shower head but it's made no difference. I took off shower panel cover but couldn't see any loose wires. Was working absolutely fine the day before so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I don't know whether I just need to replace a faulty shower part or get someone in to replace with a new shower.

Really needs testing to check for power first. Can you do that, safely?

Not familiar with the Seville but my (Triton) 80Z power light is illuminated once there is power to the shower, ie, power from the CU ("fuse board") to the pull cord and the pull cord switch ON, there's also a indicator in the pull cord cover, older types have a mechanical red flag type indicator which just shows if the pull cord switch is on but doesn't tell you if the switch is faulty or not, the more modern type have a neon indicator which should only illuminate when the pull cord switch is ON and, while not foolproof gives a reasonable indication that the switch contacts are closed, these pull cord switches frequently give trouble, ensure your plumber is electrically competent.

Thanks for your advice - My shower just has a small power light indicator at the top of the shower casing which displays red when shower is working. At the moment the indicator doesn't come on when turning the shower on/off switch. I'll check that the plumber is electrically competent. Thanks again.

There should be something that you turn the shower on with as an electrical isolation, so a pull cord (as per @Johntheo5) or a switch - have you checked these as a minimum?

It’s an electric shower, hence why you get hot water from your combi boiler

Hello - Yes there are just 2 moulded buttons on the front off the shower casing - one is an on/off switch and the other is for temperature. I've attached a photo of the shower casing. These are the only buttons I use for the shower. They worked fine until Friday and then nothing. Thanks for your update.

I think you’re misinterpreting what’s being said, have a look at this to help, note the double pole switch

That neon light in the shower should be on regardless of whether the shower is on or off AS LONG as there is power to the shower, you should have a pull cord switch in the bathroom or sometimes, but rarely a switch at the bathroom door (like a light switch), the shower may have been (against regulations) installed without either of these isolators, take a phot of your CU ("fuse board") and post it.

You haven't addressed the questions asked asked above.

The electric shower heats cold water. Somewhere, there should be an isolating point. Often that will be a pull cord in the bathroom (which might have a red neon indicator). Elsewhere, there will be either a fused connection unit, or the supply runs down to the consumer unit.

It might help if you can photograph the consumer unit- often referred to as the "fuse board"- often on the ground floor in a cupboard (but not always)

You are all geniuses - There is a small pull cord in the very corner of the bathroom which I was told don't use (I'm a tenant here). A next door neighbour used the bathroom on Friday afternoon so I'm guessing they have mistaken this pull cord for a light switch. Shower working fine now. Sorry everyone for wasting your time.
