Hi Hope you can help

I have a problem with banging pipes so much so it wakes you up in the morning. This is only a problem in winter and doesn't happen the rest of the year and only happens when the boiler is cold. Things I have tried:

1. Cleaned with Fernox F3 Superconcentrate as instructions, added to radiator, left in for heating cycle and drained a number of times. This worked for a few days but the noise soon returned.
Soon after the 3 way valve controlling water to radiators or hot water tank seized and replaced this.

2. Some time later cleaned with Heavy Duty cleaner F5 via header tank; this was left in the system for 1 week and drained system about 4 times after the week. Again worked for a few days but soon returned.

I have noticed this; the hot water tank and boiler are on the first floor. As the water passes through the coil in the tank the exit goes to a T, 1 going downwards and 1 upwards to the loft where there is just an air valve on top.
After using the last cleaner residue/sludge has leaked from the top of this and run down the pipe also damaging the ceiling. Surely this should have come out after draining the system?
Is this valve the cause of the problem?

Thanks

Ever thought of trying a magnaclean? Could be that it takes a while to get that cold sludge a pumping.
Another thought I had was that if you happened to have an Apollo boiler then opening the manual bypass a bit more will keep the correct temp difference between the flow and return of the boiler.
