Are there any bearings in a boiler. Mine was quiet for a while and now get a high noise coming from the burner like dry bearings. My boiler is a Worcester Heatslave combi boiler.
The main motor bearings on your oil burner have a limited life, and when they are worn they will either howl or give off a 'zizzing' sound.
The solution? Either replace the entire motor (not a bad move if its getting on a bit) or strip the motor out of the burner and fit new bearings to that.

Thanks for the info John. Will either try to replace the bearings if I can get them or replace the boiler when it packs up. Might be a bit of a problem getting the bits as it's a discontinued model.
Any bearing factor can sort your bearings out, Steve, and try www.heating-parts.co.uk for a motor. They are easy enough to get.
AGBO is another popular supplier, as is BES.
