noisey centeral heating

hi i have a bioler which does c/heating and hot water, My problem is that when c/h is on i get a hammering sound and the pipes start rateling vigersley
and when c/h is off the hammering noise is gone. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP

no no terma/ valv

but i have checked the pump is working

i have a gloworm conventional wall mounted boiler
when the central heating is on the boiler makes cranking noises & all the pipes leading to the central heating tank vibrates like mad.
when the central heating is off & only hot water is on the boiler is fine (no noise)
ps i fitted a new pump & automatic air valve.

any ideas

Your system has been have picked up a virus or even worse, been worked on by BG.

Be afraid....be very afraid.

Seriously, you may have water hammer. If so, locate it and eliminate it, or gat a plumber that can.
