Noisy boiler

Hi

second post so sorry for bombarding you all

My boiler (old, tank in loft, potterton flamingo) makes loud noises, especially when it first fires up at 4:30pm and 6:30 am..... what causes this? I am curious.... will boiler silencer tubes from fernox help???

Almost impossible to diagnose "noises" when not actually in front of boiler.It could be many things from sludge/scale/low water level/pump,I could go on.Best advice is to have it checked by a good engineer.Silencer is an answer to some noise problems but will not fix all.
