House built 1965
10 radiators, mix of brand new and older.
In December we had a new boiler (Valliant) fitted and a new Unvented Hot Water Cylinder system, with Hive controls.
At night there is noise from the system for approx 1-2 hours starting around 3am, which is waking the family up. The system is programmed to be off at night, so there should be no call on the boiler.
When investigating the noise at night the pump (Grundfos UPS3) in the airing cupboard seems the likely source as it is making some noise, and there is the sound of water travelling through nearby pipework in the airing cupboard. However the radiators do not come on in the middle of night, only the pump seemingly. Also to note in the airing cupboard there are two valve units, both 'Honeywell Home'. When listening to these pumps/valves close up they are making some noise but the droning that wakes us up is hard to pinpoint the location of. It is loudest in the bedroom next to the airing cupboard, but is loud enough to wake up others in other bedrooms. Strangely when in the loft where the cylinder is, the noise is lower. I presume the droning is carrying along pipes from the pumps/valves.
In the day when the CH/HW is being called genuinely from the boiler according to the hive programme, the noise/drone is present also, but seems louder at night.

So I have two questions:
- Why is there any noise at night at all when the boiler is effectively off?
