Hoping someone can help as this has been driving me mad!

Our shower has a Mira Silver single lever thermostatic mixer fitting. When turned to hot the pipes often (but not all the time) start to vibrate very noisily from the shower all the way back to the boiler (Biasi Riva HE 2 Combi boiler) which is also in the bathroom. If we turn on the cold water tap in the bath at the same time this noise changes to a high pitched whine which gradually disappears altogether, after a few minutes the bath tap can be turned off and the shower runs silently (if turned off before the whining stops the loud banging/vibration noise returns).

Having read through other threads I've tried the following:

1) Turning off water supply, purging system and then back on - gave a few days where noise seemed to disappear but returned again. Does this mean air is gradually getting into the system somewhere??

2) Taking off the shower head - ran without it but no change to noise so don't think it's anything to do with flow restriction in the shower head.

Had a handyman out for another job who took a quick look and suggested some sort of pressure reducer between boiler and shower but said he couldn't guarantee it would work and was reluctant to try it as he wasn't sure if it would damage the boiler....

Any more suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

What route do the pipes take and are they secured/clipped anywhere? It may be they need some more support/clips to dampen any vibration.
