Noisy pipes

After running the hot water tap in the bath for a period of time I get loud vibration/banging noises from the pipes. This noise still persists after turning the tap off.

I've found if I turn on the cold water tap in the ensuite the noise/vibration stops. If I turn the cold tap back on it returns. Only by turning off the cold tap slowly can I get the noise/vibration to stop.

If you have a cold water storage tank in your loft, it could be the ballcock in that nearing the end of it's useful life. If you can get to it whilst it's doing it's thing, try pushing down or lifting up the float, and see if it makes a difference.
