Hi

I have just recently moved into a flat that is about 8 years old, I have a really annoying noise coming from some pipe work, a sort of crackling noise, not just running water, I know its a long shot but any ideas?

I've taken my plinth off in the kitchen and this is what I've found, looks a bit scary to me but maybe its ok, what do you guys think? (see first 2 pics)

I've also taken my bath panel off, as the noise is here too! (see pics)

also not sure whats what in the pics, I know the white is waste for the bath and sink, not sure what the orange is, the big grey pipe is the soil and I think this runs the height of the block of flats!

thanks in advance

Damo

I'm usually just watching tv or working on my computer, it happens during the evening a fair bit so i think it is when the flat upstairs flushes the toilet, or is using the washing machine etc.

doesn't seem to happen much when I am doing anything!

Could be pipes expanding/contracting when hot water goes through them, Wastes are good for it.
See if you can get cloth between the waste pipe(s) and whatever's to rub against, for a start.

Hi Chris

thanks for the tip, will try that, I noticed quite a few of the pipes are touching each other!
