Noisy toilet fill

I've two toilets on the first floor of my house. One of them recently developed a "clunking" sound as the fill valve shut off. I've taken the fill valve apart and cleaned it (it wasn't dirty). Now as the fill valve shuts off it does so with a squeal/squeek. What am I missing ?
All advice gratefully received.

Fit a fluid master.

Have just fitted a Fluid Master inlet valve unit and all good now.
