I've searched and read the threads about this topic, so I'm just looking to have my understanding checked please.

Timber frame house which I had built in 95.
Joist plan confirms wall NOT load bearing (house is approx 10m x 8m internal, and all joists are borne on a central load bearing wall down the long axis)
Removing the wall and a doorway does NOT expose the stairs to the new space in any way. New space created has exits to outside either end.

I BELIEVE... that I do not need BR to do this job.

Am I correct?

Thanks.

So the stairs will not be incorporated in the new space but still separated by a wall?

When you say timber frame I assume you mean lightweight timber panels?

If that is the case then the same rules do not apply to the internal partitions. Just because the internal partition is not taking a vertical load it may still be taking a lateral load, racking. The only way you'll know for sure is to get a structural engineer to check.
