Should have an isolation valve, then check valve, then a drain off and then the pipework to the tap. Ideally they should be located inside the property, not as just a replacement tap with them built in.

Cheers, 1 tap is outside and the other is just inside the garage door, both have gate vales to shut them off for winter.
I'll add the check valve after this and also add in a drain cock.
If it isn't isolated and drained down then they can freeze, that typically bursts the check valve internals rendering them useless.
If there is a downwards path from the supply pipe Isolation to the outside tap and the pipe can be drained then no a drain off would not be needed. An internal check valve is always advised and if the supply pipework is in a non heated/insulated space then the pipework and valves should always be insulated.
