Norton kindly offered to dowload NIS 2008 free today as an upgrade, so I took it.

EDITED: my problem was that Antispam appeared to have stopped working. i now find it has to be downloaded separaet;ly as an Add-On so I am doing that.

BTW Advert Blocking appears not to be in this 2008 version, is that a "feature"?

I discovered the cause after writing a problem

So I edited it in case anyone had read it and was trying to help, and I took out the prob I had written.
