Not Close Coupled - just very close

Hi All,

At first glance, I thought I had an Ideal Standard Close Coupled Cistern/Pan. On closer inspection, I’m wondering if it’s a Low Level Cistern/Pan with a (cut) very short flush pipe and mounted very low.

Am I correct ?

I'd say it's close coupled as it's closely coupled together/cistern sat on the pan. Does it matter?

Thanks reply.

Does it matter?
Yes it might do for couple of reasons.

I might take pan out so new 10mm flooring goes underneath. If it’s a ‘low level’ I could perhaps get a longer flush pipe and raise cistern enough for new wall holes.

I was also thinking of using the existing cistern on a new ‘close coupled’ pan - but not sure I can now. Would I have clearance for coupling plate ?

It's certainly not a close coupled (CC) toilet. I would consider it to be more of a bespoke low level type. Is it supported solely by the fixing holes in the back of the cistern? Not sure if it's been cut so low so it can 'sit' on the edge of the pan, which may help take some of the weight.

To be a close coupled the cistern would need to have a flat/shaped base that would fit the shelf of the pan, that and it would need to have either through and through fixing bolts or be able to accept a fixing plate, neither of which that could do.

Looking at it closer it almost looks like it could be a mis matched pan and cistern that's been cobbled together as I've never seen an Ideal Standard cut that low but I guess it could be.

It’s in a very tight spot space wise - it only projects from rear wall by 635mm.
I’m wondering if this was done to give flexibility in how it was fitted.

The Flush pipe looks larger than 38mm - I’ll measure it tomorrow to be sure.
And the radius looks quite tight compared to the ones I’ve seen at say Screwfix.
Is it feasible I could get a longer one and raise cistern height by couple of inches or so.
