Not enough thread for shower mixer

I've had to replace the shower mixer and don't know how the old one managed to stay on without leaks. I've attached a photo of the inlet and a photo of the dogleg connector screwed in giving me not enough thread.

The valve the dogleg connector connects to is recessed quite a bit into the wall. Does an extension exist where I can simply screw it into the existing valve, and then screw my dogleg connector into it?

Apologies for any wrong terminology, no knowledge in any of this.

It’s 1/2 bps thread on both ends so will extend it by 20 mm ish obviously the nut and olive are not required

Unfortunately the shower valves dog leg connector is 1/2 in at one end and 3/4 in at the other. So the part you lnked to with both ends 1/2 in, male ,won't do. The valve connectors are 3/4 in female.
