Not sure if it real or not......Rat in CU

A rat can get through a golf-ball sized hole, so I suppose it might have crawled in though a knock-out and got stuck (or electrocuted).

It seems very unlikely to me, but not impossible. Rats are not inquisitive like mice, so I wonder why it would have bothered?

Once saw an 11kv cubicle with 22mm dia connectors melted like candle wax. The station cat had fried mouse for supper.

I think it is real - the skelaton would be so delicate to place in that position.

They get in through tiny holes.

I expect he got stuck, although his rear legs could have easily touched the MCB exposed terminals, and his back could touch something earthed.

I have a photo somewhere of a live mouse I was greeted with when I removed a cover to a DB. Sat there staring at me!

Around this time last year there was a brief power outage affecting a big chunk of the town where i live, turns out that a cat had decided to climb onto the 33kv busbar in my local primary sub and shorted it, throwing the trip (and itself.) My boss got to the substation to see what was going on and smelt burning fur and saw the cat partly paralyzed running off!

It survived for some reason but i suspect it probably died of shock shortly afterwards!

i uncovered a mouse (assumed, not definate) in a consumer unit, very dead laying along the mcb's, i had to test phase continuity from the sockets on some circuits. What made it even more interesting is that some cleaver tw@ had decided to cut the supply tails and fit henly blocks and added an extrra pair of tails to the load side of the RCD main switch, i guess thats one way of stopping it tripping out!

well mine apears to have entered from the top which was tight to the ceiling, so would have passed finger test.
