Can a render of sand/cement be plastered on the outside, directly to the expanded polystyrene?

never used sand and cement on insulation boards, it was always polymers m-r or k-rend. http://www.melbacrylic.com.au/MAC/MAC___Coating_Systems___Expanded_Polystyrene.html

Looks good but will it stand the test of time?

the system we used was 2 coats. matting 1st coat , beading 2nd coat and either pebbledash or float finish.
