I’ve always just used whatever notched trowel I had in the past but I want to do things right and I am going to be installing 120cm x 60cm porcelain tiles on walls and floors. It’s approximately 9/10mm thick. I currently have a 6mm notched trowel but is this too small? For bigger tiles should the notch size be different? I’m not sure about when to use what sizes. Not sure about the link between tile size and trowel notch size.

The bigger the tile the bigger the notch.
You have big tiles although I've not fitted any that big, but I'd want bigger than 6mm

Ok that makes sense so the bigger the tiles the bigger the trowel notch size? So for 120x60 you think 10mm notches maybe?

You need to look at surface and the tiles.
Im thinking if you place two tiles face to face they won't have any noticeable bow.
What about surfaces, are they flat?
I think you need to read articles that explain how to work out which knotch trowel you need.
For me a 10mm or bigger but as I've said read up.
You can also phone the adhesive technical helpline for advise regarding this and any sealers required.
