Hello
Building my first house, Couple of questions.

I have the joiner in doing the partition walls, he has suggested I should order the door casings in.

Now ive seen some oak veenered doors for £75 in a local builders merch
which I like and also the skirting but I feel matching the architrave and door casings in oak is going out of budget - cheapest casing in oak so far is £48. What do other people do advice please?

Also Ive just seen Casings and linings are different in what way please?

My personal preference is a painted door frame with an oak door. It makes the beauty of the oak stand out much more - a bit like a picture frame. If the frame is the same colour as the door it detracts greatly from the oak.

Also Ive just seen Casings and linings are different in what way please?

Both terms mean pretty much the same thing here, but in the US, a door casing consists of all parts including the architrave.

I think!!

Casings are a one piece rebated section.
Linings are a simple piece of planed timber with the rebate formed using a separate knock-on plant.
