Good morning all,

We bought a 1930s semi with a detached garage. This had an extension added at some point and is now in need of serious tlc as the roof is pretty much non-existent.

I understand that it can be impossible to determine via a crummy photograph however has anyone seen this type of roofing material before?

I haven't had much involvment in roofs and i'm possibly too young to have ever seen asbestos but i'd like to err on the side of caution.

I haven't spent a great amount of time with it but the material is very much like compressed shredded paper with bitumen? added on top.

Any thoughts are welcome, thanks.
