Oh I do like optimistic people

£15 P&P still sounds high. Standard Parcels service is £9.58 for 6kg (about 13 lb.), and I can't see it being more than that; possibly even in the <=4kg band, which is £7.06. Even if a purchased shipping carton is needed, £15 is pushing it a little, I think.

It's the way everybody makes a bit more on eBay without having to pay commission. If the seller is only adding a fiver to the real cost, that's not too bad - there's packaging, possibly petrol and parking to get to the post office...

Fair point, and some of eBay's policies don't make it easy.

Among a batch of things I put on recently I had some odd user guides, computer cables etc. which were cluttering up the place but might be useful to somebody, so I was just going to put them on at 99p. each to avoid the listing fees, plus the £1 to £2 postage they would be - Enough just to put a few pounds into my PayPal account for odd purchases. Except that they now insist on "Free P&P" in certain categories, which means that by the time you pay the listing fee & final value fee for the £2 to £3 start price per item there's so little of that 99p. left that it's just not worth the hassle. In the end I put a few of them into a miscelleneous category instead, which doesn't have the "Free P&P" restriction.

they take the p**s in all ways, charge you to list an item, charge you a percentage of the sold price and then charge you to receive the money through paypal, their sister company. they have a monopoly and no one can seem to rival it, eBid have tried but seem to have failed.

It's not so much their policies I mind (and I do mind them a fair bit, as they are venal), but what really gets me are the lies that they tell to "justify" them, clearly thinking that everyone is as thick as sh*t if they expect to be believed.
