This might sound a strange one but I thought I'd ask.

I live in a back to back terrance, and my house has had it's attic converted to a living room. This summer I redecorated the room using Wilkinson's matt emulsion. This has been put over walls that are partly artex and partly wall paper. I've also had to get a new gas fire installed - a flueless one that puts out a good deal more heat than the previous fireplace.

What I've noticed is that there is a yellow oil coming from the wall, or sap of some kind and it's only occuring when the fire is on. It's the wall opposite to where the fireplace is, and the areas affected are affected in patches. Bearing in mind this is not something I've seen before, I don't know whether it is the paint, the wall or a combination of both.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
