oil boiler problem

I have a Worcester Heatslave 15/19 oil boiler.

There was a leak between the actuator and the diverter valve. I called a plumber out who told me that the diverter valve needed replacing. the trouble is, this boiler is 20 years old and the part is no longer made. He did bring a part he though would fit but it was a 5 wire Honeywell part not a acl3 wire valve .
I cant find anywhere to buy this part and to avoid the expense of a new boiler can anyone suggest anything that would plug the leak? Either a website or the name of someone who deals in old boiler parts ?

I am thinking maybe there is another part offered by another supplier other than Worcester which would do.

Any advice would be a great help.

It's a ZA3 actuator @simond, but I think he's after the valve rather than the actuator if it's leaking through the spindle

@Tony T I don't think they're a refurbishable component, but it might be possible to swap it for a different valve of the pipework can be modified

Thanks for your comments, leak stopped but do not trust it to stay this way. Has anyone changed actuator seal, or is it a seal on the valve that does the job?

Your valve is none of the ones recommended. It is a 3 port diverter with no end switches. There is no problem from the control point of view, but your difficulty will be the plumbing connection. Your valve will have internal threads whereas most I can think of have external and it is so tight to fit.
The seal will only be an 'o' ring and should be easy to replace.

I looked up the replacement part number on PartsArena and WB own parts database using the boiler model. Both Honeywell 5 and 6 wire types are listed, but not Drayton (ACL).


If it is a 3 wire ACL then as Muggles said above a simple diverter valve such as a ZA3 would do.

PS: Never tried dismantling a Drayton valve, might be very crusty inside after 20 years though.

The valve is an ACL379, but the current version have external threads, yours is internal. as I said, you probably do not have the space to reconfigure the pipework. If it leaks again, your best bet is to see if you can find an 'o' ring to fit, or Fernox LSX is quite useful.
