Update on my boiler.
The fella came out last night and looked at the electrics then the burner itself so he checked the pump and bingo it was caput.
He opened it and showed me the the problem. When the boiler fires it builds the pressure using a little piece of metal which slots into two groves and the groves had worn away. He explained that when there is no oil r u run out of oil this apparatus has no lubricant and it's metal to metal was causes it to fail. There was a small grove and that's why it fire from time to time.
He fitted a new pump and the boiler fired first time no problem.
Just wondering, what is the average cost for the above work?
