I'm soon looking to purchase an oil fired (not a combi) conventional boiler, floor mounted inside a utility room to heat our barn conversion. Probably something fairly small as the house will have other heat sources.

I'd be very grateful for any recommendations regarding manufacturer, good, bad poor etc.

Also what efficiency rating am I obliged to go for these days?

    Thanks.

The Hounsfield boiler comes highly recommended on here.....it will certainly be my next choice.

I've got an Archie Kidd; but sadly you can't buy one of these any more.

Failing that, a Worcester Bosch small Danesmoor is greatly improved over the earlier Camray and will come with 7 or more years warranty if installed by an Accredited Installer.

Thanks, I've looked at the Houndsfield website and if the boilers are not at a silly price then I'll be buying one.

Another vote here for Hounsfield - excellent boilers, and the make I chose when installing in my own house

No, he's the guy (along with some of his employees) who was involved in designing and building the Boulter Camray before Woofter got hold of it and ruined it

Another vote for the Hounsfield, great boilers.
Grant & Worcester are leakers, complete cr.p!!

Oil burner has not changed much in the last 30-40 years. So for efficiency, just ensure the boiler doesn't continually cycle. Certainly other considerations compared to a gas boiler/system.

Don't employ the services of some fresh faced course cowboy, with all the badges & no experience. OFTEC qualies are not worth anything, most of the good oil guys I know wouldn't bother with that shyte!!
