I have a Wilson Wallflame boiler 42 years old. It is sometimes necessary to open the front and spin the fan to make it start. Can anyone tell me what the solution is.

Seriously- Scrap it and replace with a modern Pressure Jet model . You will save money on fuel costs. The oil engineers will be along soon

Try changing the motor capacitor as that helps 'kick start' the motor.

If you can't get the exact spare for your burner then get one of a similar size with the same mf rating.
