The oil fired boiler in our holiday rental home occasionally "trips out". If there's no-one there in the winter to press the reset button I'm concerned that the system may freeze.

If I leave the electric immersion heater on, with the 2 zone valves open, would the heat in the hot tank transfer to the water in the calorifier coil and from there to the primary heating circuit, circulating just enough heat to prevent the pipework from freezing ?.( The central heating pump works even when the boiler has tripped out.)

It's a pressurised system and the mains water tap is usually off throughout the winter.

thank you for your advice
