Before I make things worse, we've had a long term v slow oil leak on our oil Greenstar that the boiler engineer couldn't find, got back today and it's dripping from what I assume is the burner oil inlet, a thin copper tube into an inlet see arrow. Is this a simple job of tightening it up or what will I find if I dismantle it. Currently got the oil off due to the rate of dripping and can't get anyone out until next week.

Thanks,

M

OK on further inspection the source seems to be somewhere between the oil pump and motor. presumably there's some sort of gasket there. It's feeling beyond a simple screw tighten

Indeed, the oil pump does have oil seals on its input shaft, that the motor drives.
New seals are available for some pumps, but personally I'd fit a complete pump.
Of course, the pump and burner would need to be set up by someone with a flue gas analyser after the pump is fitted.
John :)
