I have a upright splasher swimming pool, can I use my old central heating pump (away from the wet area) and use it like a vacuum cleaner with hose to suck up debris from the bottom of the pool ?
you could try, but bearing in mind that it may block up as you want to remove the sludge, a filter will soon block up, and the pump will have to be lower than the pool to get it started.
Easier to siphon the sludge out, or buy a pond vaccuum cleaner (they do exist)
I have got a manual pool vacuum cleaner but not easy to use as it require water going into the hose then collect the debris into a net bag then get air suction on the bottom, then the bloody thing won't move! I will try the c/h pump and see what happen as I got nothing to lose.
this is true, i don't think much to them things you have either, i once bought a swimming poolpump, with strainer, and hose, boy did it go........untill the motor burn out (some 14 mths later)
I'm surprised the c/h pump is not powerful enough to suck up water ! Thinking about it, I suppose the c/h pump only really push the water round the c/h system which really doesn't have to be powerful.Oh well, learning every day!
