Presumably it was for an old gas fire place or something as it's within a couple of inches of the wall.

What I want to know is, is it actually possible for this to be removed as it sticks up about 5inches and is a real eye sore. It's surrounded by concrete and I don't know whether it's still 'live'. Obviously I'd get a gas engineer in to do the work but can it actually be done as it's buried in concrete?

If so, does anyone have any idea of the scale of the job? Are we talking an afternoons work or several hundred pounds?

Thanks

Half an hours work if they can cut it and cap it at the other end, i.e. before it goes under the floor...

Thanks, I didn't even think of that.

I just presumed it came from the outside supply or something. lol

it will connect to the pipe from the meter somewhere and if that is not exposed then you could end up with no cooker or boiler
