Currently replacing the kitchen units and removing some old ones has revealed a pipe sticking out of the wall. I don't think it's the gas feed because A: i've not seen one like it before, and B: it's already in use with the gas cooker!

Ok, so this pipe sticks straight out of the wall about 2 inches. It is about 1/2 and inch in diameter and is threaded on the outside... the threads disappear back in to the wall. The pipe is capped off with a small screw on cap. Not sure of the material cause its covered in paint.

Can anyone shed some light???

It's not in the way as such, but I would like to know what it is for piece of mind!

Cheers all

I had one of those.
It was the old iron gas supply which was dead.
Do make sure it is not live before you start messing with it. :D

It`s a gas feed to a wash boiler..unfortunately I`m old enough to remember them :)
