My boiler fires up for hot water but will not fire when I want the heating on. Fitted a new pump last year. Tried fitting a new thermostat but no change.
Completely baffled
After reading some of your other subjects it appears my problem might indeed be the pump (the one I changed last year). As said before the boiler fires up for hot water but not for heating. Is it right that the boiler will not fire up on CH unless the pump is running? I have red hot water both side of the pump.....very confused.
Radiators get hot upstairs but not downstairs but I think that is due to gravity.
Thanks ollski but I think I am going to have to get help from a local plumber.....havn't got a clue what you were talking about. 3x1 or 2x2??? it's obviously well beyond my limited heating diy abilities.
Yes, I opened both valves when I fitted the new pump but listen to this. I decided to check that the pump was working, I wired it direct onto a 3 oin plug and plugged it in. Pump did not work. Only a year old so I did the impeller thing then plugged it in again. Pump whirred like a good un. I have now put it all back together and up to a few mins ago the rads were getting warm....hoping they will get HOT. Initially I did not think it could possibly be a year old pump. Goes to sow you should not assume anything........it makes an ASS out of U and ME.
Hopefully my problem has been cured and I won't have to get a new system at least until next year.
Thanks for the ideas....keeping my fingers crossed.
