old lead water pipe

hi guys...ive got the mains stop cock in the bathroom...well it was the bathroom, now its part of the kitchen...anyway the mains water supply comes into house via this stopcock.....i need to to cut off this supply as i have an alternative route for the mains water to come into the house (through the new bathroom now)....the stopcock is a normal one...however it has a bulge as you dig around it...ive been told its lead and if i dig further down it reduces to a smaller lead pipe..so ive been told by the previous house owner.....shall i just crush the lead with a hammer or is there a alternative way to cut off the water supply..? cheers

Yes . Contact the water board and ask them to remove it at main.

Bend it over if you wish but the pressure will open it up sometime later am afraid, better off out.
